Luke Fickell is feeling positive about his outlook as the new head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers.

On Thursday, Fickell opened up to CBS show host Jim Rome on how he was not just getting a talented team, but an incredible culture.

Fickell said to Rome:

“From being here for a short amount of time, the greatest thing I’ve noticed is the culture here is really strong,” said Fickell. “And how do you know that, right? Not because of what the guys tell you… but then you have the opportunity to go out there and watch them practice, it’s different.”

He went on to say:

“When they go to practice, they all come together, and that’s where I’ve been really, really impressed that I’ve got to do a really good job of not just coming in here, thinking you’re going to change a bunch of things. There’s an incredible culture here and history that these guys have done and are all about that I’ve got to embrace as well.”

On Nov. 27, Fickell was hired to be the head coach of the Badgers after 6 seasons at Cincinnati. He accumulated an overall record of 57-18.

Wisconsin (6-6) is set to finish this season in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl against Oklahoma State.
