Matt Henningsen took a few games to get his first career sack with the Denver Broncos. Against the L.A. Chargers in the second quarter, Henningsen recorded his first sack on the season on Justin Herbert.

Henningsen was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by Denver. His impact is now being felt on the field.

“It felt awesome,” Henningsen said via Denver Gazette’s George Stoia. “It was a pretty easy one, honestly. Just cut me loose, and I had a clear lane and I took it. It was just really cool.”

Before becoming a sixth round pick, Henningsen was a former walk-on for the Badgers. In 37 games, he recorded 13.5 sacks and 92 tackles landing him an All-Big Ten selection his senior season.

The Broncos’ coaching staff has been impressed by his effort and they plan on continuing to give him more time on the field with each week.

“He’s done a good job,” said DC Ejiro Evero. “It’s great to see a lot of these young guys contributing.”

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Henningsen will continue to be a big piece for the Broncos moving forward this season.
