After picking up a targeting call in Wisconsin’s game against Nebraska, the Badgers issued an appeal for Nick Herbig to be able to play in the first half of Saturday’s game against Minnesota.

Herbig was called for targeting in the second half of the game against Nebraska, meaning he would have to sit out the first half of the next game unless the appeal was successful.

It was revealed Tuesday that the appeal was not successful and now Herbig will have to miss the first half against Minnesota.

The absence of the linebacker in the first half will certainly be felt for the Badgers, who have put together a 6-5 season heading into the game. Herbig has racked up 29 tackles and 11 sacks.

Wisconsin and Minnesota kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday as the two teams fight it out for Paul Bunyan’s Axe.
