We are still in the early stage of the 2020-21 college basketball season, but it appears that we got a candidate for play of the year on Friday in the Big Ten.

No. 4 Wisconsin hit the road to take on in-state rival Marquette. The game came down to the final second. With the game tied up at 65 and less than a second to go in regulation, the Golden Eagles attempted the game-winning free throw. The shot missed, but freshman Justin Lewis emerged and tipped in the rebound as time expired to give Marquette a stunning 67-65 win.

The Badgers will surely be working on their boxing out skills in practice after that play. Especially since the moment has now been seen all over social media.

The loss was shocking on a number of fronts. Wisconsin had jumped into the top four of the AP poll and had steamrolled two of its first three opponents. Granted the opponents included, Eastern Illinois, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Green Bay. But still, the Badgers had significant hype surrounding them heading into the season, thus the No. 4 ranking.

At the same time, the Golden Eagles came in at 2-1 and did not have the impressive start. Matter of fact, Marquette was coming off a home loss to Oklahoma State.

Wisconsin will certainly want a chance to redeem itself after Friday’s loss. The next time the Badgers hit the court, it will be a big one as they take on Louisville at home in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
