In a decision as significant as the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s to reinstate Quintez Cephus back on campus, you’d think the student would be the first to know. But he wasn’t.

That was no fault of the university, but rather a mistake on the part of Cephus. One that’s going to cost him a new cell phone.

According to Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Cephus took a dip in a pool around the time Wisconsin had made its decision. His phone, apparently, was still in his pocket, where it stayed for around 20 minutes.

So, obviously, he couldn’t be reached when the University of Wisconsin made the decision.

The school made the decision to reinstate Cephus after he was found not guilty on sexual assault charges. He was expelled from the school and suspended from the football team before the 2018 season due to the nature of the charges.

Cephus’ teammates and head coach Paul Chryst said they would welcome him back to the team if he was reinstated by the school. And if he’s to rejoin the team, he’ll have a little less than two weeks until the start of the 2019 season.

Wisconsin opens the 2019 campaign on the road in Tampa against USF on Friday, Aug. 30.
