A long and successful run at the University of Wisconsin is coming to an end for Barry Alvarez. The former head football coach and current athletic director’s final day on June 30.

Wednesday morning, the University of Wisconsin’s athletic department shared a video of Alvarez thanking the school, student-athletes, alumni and fans for their continued support during his long run. He also talked about some of his favorite things while working as a head football coach and athletic director.

Alvarez made sure to say that this would not be goodbye from Wisconsin, stating “Once a Badger, always a Badger.”

For more than 30 years, Alvarez has been part of Wisconsin’s athletic department in some capacity. As the football coach, he posted a career record of 120-73-4, appearing in 13 bowl games and winning three B1G titles.

Alvarez isn’t retiring completely. Though he won’t be working at Wisconsin, he’ll serve as a liaison between the football coaches in the league and the conference administration for the upcoming season.
