Ahead of one of the best bowl games that takes place each and every year, Oregon players and coaches talked about Wisconsin’s offense and exactly what to expect from the Badgers who made it to the Big Ten Championship this season:
“You’ve gotta stop the whole team,” Oregon safety Jevon Holland said. “You’ve gotta stop the entire offense.
“A lot of teams focus on Jonathan Taylor, which is needed, but they almost disrespect the other players. That leaves them at a disadvantage. If you leave those guys with opportunities, they’re gonna take it.”
As Holland said, it isn’t just the Jonathan Taylor show. The Badgers have many weapons they can utilize to beat a team.
“You have to play a complete game,” Oregon linebacker Troy Dye stated. “They have very good speed on the outside, good tight ends, good fullbacks. They do a good job protecting.
“Their quarterback, nobody gives him enough credit. He’s a very good player, he’s athletic, he can run very well, he has a very good arm. He does everything that offense asks him to do.”
And more from Oregon defensive coordinator Andy Avalos, who talked about how the Badgers’ offense has evolved over the course of the season:
“I think there has been, towards the end of the year, there’s been more vertical pass game down the field,” he said. “You could see it from the first Ohio State game to the second Ohio State game.
“Through the course of the year, they’re going to grow and build. They have. I believe they’ve grown and the vertical pass game is something we’ve studied, and there are going to be some routes that pose challenges to us that we know we’re going to have to face.”
Oregon is giving plenty of respect to Wisconsin. The Ducks know what they have to do in order to win.
It’s just a matter of whether or not they’ll slow the Badgers down Wednesday night.
