Paul Chryst will be getting a decent buyout following Sunday’s surprising news.
According to reports, Wisconsin is making the move to fire Chryst after a 2-3 start to the season. That move also follows back-to-back blowout losses in B1G play with Illinois steamrolling the Badgers in Madison during Week 5.
According to other reports, the Badgers will owe Chryst a hefty buyout for the move. His buyout is expected to be north of $16 million, an especially large payout to fire a coach with a 72% winning percentage.
Paul Chryst will receive a $16.8 million buyout.

When Wisconsin is willing to pay $16M to make a largely successful but recently backsliding coach go away, that tells you buyouts are close to irrelevant at this point.

At this point, it is too early to see where Wisconsin may turn for the vacancy, but add the vacancy alongside Nebraska’s head coaching position for 2022.
