Paul Chryst shares disappointing injury update on leading rusher Chez Mellusi

No. 18 Wisconsin will unfortunately be without one of its top players for the remainder of the season. Badgers coach Paul Chryst revealed during his Nov. 11 press conference that tailback Chez Mellusi is done for the season due to a leg/knee injury.

Chryst added that Mellusi could be out through next spring as well:

The 5-foot-11, 204-pound Mellusi is Wisconsin’s leading rusher with 815 yards and 5 touchdowns. Mellusi transferred to Wisconsin after two seasons at Clemson. The junior has tallied 1,242 yards and 11 touchdowns during his college career.
Wisconsin’s second-leading rusher is freshman Braelon Allen, who has amassed 661 yards, and a team-best 6 rushing touchdowns.
Wisconsin is 6-3 overall and tied for first place in the B1G West. The Badgers are on a 5-game winning streak that began with a 24-0 shutout victory vs. Illinois. Last week, Wisconsin hammered Rutgers 52-3.
Next up for Wisconsin is a home contest vs. Northwestern on Nov. 13 (noon EST/ESPN2). Wisconsin leads the all-time series 60-37-5 vs. Northwestern. The Wildcats won last season’s meeting 17-7 at home.
