Paul Chryst is hopeful his running back room will be at full strength entering 2022. Chez Mellusi – coming off a torn ACL in 2021 – is looking to be a part of that group.

Fortunately, it sounds like Mellusi is on track and getting ready to roll this season. Chryst updated Mellusi’s rehab on Monday and had very positive remarks for the running back.

According to Chryst, Mellusi has not had any setbacks in his rehab work leading up to 2022. Mellusi has even seen more work than initially anticipated this offseason.

Braelon Allen did takeover the lead role in Wisconsin’s backfield last season with a dramatic performance as a freshman, but Mellusi is still a key piece of that running back unit. Mellusi rushed for 815 yards (4.7 yards per carry) and 5 touchdowns for the Badgers in 2021.
