A poor shooting effort has put an end to Wisconsin’s season.
The Badgers shot just 33.3 percent from the floor and knocked down just six of 30 attempts from three-point land in its first round matchup against Oregon in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The inability to find the hoop led to a lopsided finish, with the Ducks posting a 72-54 victory.
Friday’s game was even through the first 20 minutes, with the two times tied at 25-25 heading into the locker room at halftime. But in the second half, the Ducks were able to build and maintain a sizable lead. Oregon closed the game on an 18-2 run to secure the Round 1 victory.
Oregon also shot 54.9 percent from the floor for the game, and shot over 70 percent in the second half. Wisconsin had absolutely no answer for the hot shooting or the Ducks’ athleticism.
Ethan Happ ended his career scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the loss. He was one of just two Badgers to reach double figures, with Khalil Iverson also scoring 12 in the contest. Brad Davison and D’Mitrik Trice struggled mightily in the game, combining for just 12 points on 3-of-20 shooting.
Wisconsin ends its season with a 23-10 record.
