Baylor is narrowing in on former Wisconsin and current LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to become its next head coach.
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg was one of several to report that Aranda is the leading candidate to become the head coach at Baylor, replacing Matt Rhule. Aranda has been the defensive coordinator in Baton Rouge since 2016.
Before becoming the defensive coordinator at LSU, Aranda was the defensive coordinator at Wisconsin from 2013-15. He also coached the inside linebackers while with the Badgers.

Aranda has also had stops at Hawaii and Utah State.
Aranda coached an LSU defense that helped the Tigers finish the season with a perfect 15-0 record, an SEC title and a national championship. LSU’s defense held Clemson’s offense — one of the highest-scoring teams in the country — to just 25 points in Monday night’s championship game.
This would be Aranda’s first head coaching gig.
