Former Wisconsin WR Quintez Cephus was reportedly found not guilty of two counts of sexual assault on Friday.
According to Lawrence Andrea with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, it took the jury “about 30 minutes” to render a verdict after Cephus’ testimony. Cephus did admit to lying to police following the incident in an attempt to protect then-teammate Danny Davis, but he claimed the two women never told him no or to stop. Andrea reported Cephus was calm and clear throughout his testimony.
The incident which occurred in 2018 also resulted in Davis receiving a two-game suspension last season. Head coach Paul Chryst commented Friday that he did not anticipate any more team penalties for Davis.
Cephus had 34 catches for 595 yards and 6 TDs with the Badgers.
