The Seattle Seahawks are going to be without their quarterback for a while.

Russell Wilson suffered a nasty finger injury in Seattle’s Thursday Night Football loss to the Los Angeles Rams Oct. 7. Friday night, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Wilson will miss at least a month with a ruptured tendon in his middle finger that probably requires surgery.

That’s a huge blow for Seattle. Wilson has been one of the top quarterbacks in the league since the Seahawks drafted him out of Wisconsin in 2012 and is the heart and soul of their offense. He’s an 8-time Pro Bowler and led Seattle to its first Super Bowl win in 2014.

Now, Seattle will likely turn to Geno Smith, who took over for Wilson against the Rams. Smith completed 10 of 17 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown in the second half of the loss. He might get his first start since 2017 when Seattle takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers Oct. 17.
