Fall camps are taking place across the country and coaches are gaining intellect on what they have to work with.

The same, of course, can be seen for Paul Chryst at Wisconsin. The Badgers will not have Alex Hornibrook starting at QB for the majority of the team’s games for the first time in a while as Jack Coan and Graham Mertz are battling for the job.

Regardless of who the team’s starting signal-caller is, they will have to throw the ball — even at Wisconsin — if they want to beat the consistently good teams in the Big Ten. Tight end is often a position to look at in Madison.

So far in fall camp, the team has had a bit of an issue when it comes to injuries as Luke Benzschawel appeared to re-injure his right knee earlier this week.

However, it’s not just Benzschawel who is suffering injuries at tight end:

Jake Ferguson is the team’s apparent No. 1 tight end, and Jeff Potrykus believes his left arm injury he endured is not a serious one. For Hayden Rucci, however, who is a freshman, is reportedly out indefinitely as his left arm is in a sling.

As Potrykus points out, the Badgers need healthy tight ends. The season starts in just a couple weeks. If Wisconsin wants to get the most out of its offense, being solid at the tight end position is important.

The Badgers’ 2019 season begins on Aug. 30 at USF.
