New Wisconsin inside linebackers coach Bill Sheridan might be finding himself in some trouble with the NCAA. According to a report from Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, the new Badgers staffer committed recruiting violations during his time at Air Force.

Sheridan is one of four Air Force assistants who allegedly violated recruiting rules during 2020 — the COVID-19 recruiting dead period. It’s also alleged that impermissible benefits were provided.

Two of the other assistant coaches were assistant defensive line coach Del Cowsette and tight ends coach Jonathan Himebauch. The fourth assistant could not be confirmed.

Wisconsin released a brief statement on the news.

“We are aware of the NCAA investigation involving Bill Sheridan stemming from his time as an assistant coach at Air Force,” the release stated. “We have no further comment at this time.”

Sheridan spent the past two seasons at Air Force coaching the defensive line. He was hired to coach inside linebackers at Wisconsin in February.

Per the report, Air Force has concluded its internal investigation into the violations and is awaiting word from the NCAA. The organization has not provided any comment.

It’s also being reported by McMurphy that, as soon as the school learned of the allegations, the assistant coaches were let go from their positions.
