An experienced Wisconsin defensive back is deciding to move on from Madison.

Safety Madison Cone is entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from 247Sports. The defensive back appeared in just two games for the Badgers during the 2020 season. He will be a graduate transfer, which means he’ll be immediately eligible at his next stop.

Cone is taking advantage of the NCAA’s blanket waiver for all fall student-athletes. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

During his time at Wisconsin, Cone appeared in 33 games. In that span, he was responsible for 27 tackles, 4 pass break-ups and 2 interceptions. Most of those statistics came from the 2018 campaign.

Wisconsin finished the 2020 season with a 4-3 record and ended the year by beating Minnesota to close out the regular season and Wake Forest in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

The Badgers are scheduled to open the 2021 campaign against Penn State at Camp Randall Stadium.
