Russell Wilson sustains ugly finger injury vs. Los Angeles on TNF
Russell Wilson picked up a milestone victory last weekend, but the star quarterback might miss some time after an ugly injury during this week’s game.
Taking on the Los Angeles Rams, Wilson sustained an injury to the middle finger on his right hand. After getting rid of the ball, Rams DL Aaron Donald hit Wilson’s fingers as he was trying to deflect the pass.
It resulted in a nasty injury that was visible on the broadcast:

Wilson was unable to finish the contest with backup Geno Smith filling at QB. The Seahawks lost the game 26-17, but the bigger concern at this point is Wilson’s status moving forward.
After the game, head coach Pete Carroll discussed the injury. He said Wilson has a bad sprain of the finger, but it is still too early to know if surgery will be needed.
Pete Carroll says about Russell Wilson that his QB has a “badly sprained finger.” Says he’s a quick healer and will do whatever it takes to get back as soon as possible, but no time frame on his return yet.

Pete Carroll says they don’t know enough about Russell Wilson’s injury to rule out surgery. But Wilson’s mental toughness to overcome injuries is something that is exemplary, and a strength of his.
