The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Jack Cichy on Wednesday, the former Wisconsin linebacker now a free agent who should garner some interest around the league.

Cichy was a sixth round pick of Tampa Bay in the 2018 NFL Draft. As a rookie he played in six games and posted four tackles. He was primarily used as depth as well as on special teams. Now, he’s looking for a new home in the NFL.

Injuries the past two years have derailed his progress. Cichy has played in five games this year with one tackle. He didn’t play any defensive snaps this year but was in on 87 special team snaps.

In three seasons at Wisconsin spanning 20 games, he had 121 tackles with 6.5 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss with 2 forced fumbles. Cichy’s best season with the Badgers came in 2016, piling up 60 tackles, 7 for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 2 pass break-ups and 1.5 sacks.
