Tanner Koziol emerged as an in-demand tight end when he entered the transfer portal after 3 seasons with Ball State.

With one season to go in his college career, Koziol will now head to the Big Ten, announcing on Saturday that he had committed to Wisconsin.

Koziol joined Ball State out of the 2021 recruiting class and redshirted his first season. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, he impressed, making 35 catches for 373 yards and 7 touchdowns. Then, in 2023, he pulled in 34 catches for 295 yards and 3 scores.

He then entered the transfer portal and committed to Louisville, but later changed his mind and returned to Ball State, enjoying his best season yet: 94 catches, 839 yards, and 8 touchdowns, earning second-team All-MAC honors.

For the second year in a row, though, Koziol entered the portal, and it looks like Wisconsin is his destination. The Badgers suffered one of their worst seasons in nearly a quarter-century, slumping to a 5-7 record and 3-6 B1G finish on their way to missing a bowl for the first time since 2001.

Koziol’s arrival, though, will provide a boost to the Badgers’ TE corps, and the pass-catching group as a whole, as they look to improve in 2025 and at least put themselves back in a bowl after a 1-year absence.
