One of the biggest games of the weekend will be between a battle of undefeated teams in the B1G, as No. 10 Wisconsin visits No. 19 Northwestern.

Wisconsin has had their share of struggles against Northwestern recently. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 60-36-5 but has gone 3-3 in the last 6 meetings.

This season’s edition will certainly be a challenge for Wisconsin as Northwestern is 4-0 for the first time since 1996. The Wisconsin offense will be going up against a Northwestern defense that ranks seventh nationally in points per game (14.0).

ESPN’s Mark Sanchez believes that Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz will need to have a strong performance to overcome the vaunted Northwestern defense. Mertz has amassed 375 yards, 7 touchdowns, and no interceptions this season, along with a QBR of 87.9.

Sanchez is a big fan of the Wisconsin offense, and he explained why Mertz makes this a different Badgers squad than in year’s past:

“I think the key to the game is Graham Mertz and what he does with his attack on offense. Listen, this QB came out and threw 5 TDs in his first start…this is a different Wisconsin attack. This kid’s got 7 touchdowns, no interceptions,” Sanchez said on Friday’s Get Up! “He’s leading the way, it’s RB by committee, they’re going to get explosive on offense, and look out for that DC Jim Leonhard.”

Wisconsin cruised to a 45-7 win in Week 1 vs. Illinois, then had their games against Nebraska and Purdue canceled due to COVID-19. Wisconsin returned last week with a convincing 49-11 victory at Michigan.

Northwestern is coming off a 27-20 victory at Purdue. Can the Wildcats slow down the Badgers and shock the world once again?
