The fifth round of the NFL Draft was extremely busy for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Three former Badgers were selected on Day 3, all selected in the fifth round. Two linebackers and one offensive lineman heard their names called Saturday afternoon.

Linebacker Ryan Connelly was the first to be selected, going No. 143 to the New York Giants. Connelly was Wisconsin’s second-leading tackler a year ago, finishing the season with 89 stops, including 10 tackles for loss.

Eight picks later, fellow linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel was taken by the Miami Dolphins, which held the 151st pick. Van Ginkel was a disruptive defender for the Badgers a year ago, totaling 5.5 sacks and forcing two fumbles while totaling 60 stops.

Offensive lineman David Edwards was taken near the end of the fifth round, going 169th overall to the Los Angeles Rams. In his career in Madison, Edwards appeared in 37 career games and made 31 starts at right tackle.

Edwards was the second Wisconsin offensive lineman taken in the draft, along with Michael Deiter who was selected by the Dolphins in the third round on Friday night.
