WATCH: Barry Alvarez's grandson scores Wisconsin's TD vs. Iowa
Wisconsin was able to get on the scoreboard first in Saturday night’s showdown between the Badgers and Iowa at Kinnick Stadium. And it was all thanks to the grandson of some campus royalty.
Early in the second quarter, Jake Ferguson caught a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone from Alex Hornibrook. The score gave the Badgers an early 7-0 lead in the contest.
Oh, and Ferguson just so happens to be the grandson of ex-Wisconsin head coach and current athletic director Barry Alvarez.

That reception was the first touchdown catch of Ferguson’s career.
Ferguson has been a good option for the Badgers early this season, hauling in eight catches for 108 yards. But with all that’s hanging in the balance in Iowa City, that touchdown reception is the biggest of the season.
Saturday night’s clash served as the B1G opener for both teams. The winner gets an early lead in the B1G West.
