Some might’ve been a little shocked to see an unbeaten, 8-0 Wisconsin team all the way down at No. 9 in the first College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night. It’s not very common that any Power Five team is that far down the list if it’s undefeated at this point in the season.
But a weak non-conference schedule and pretty unimpressive conference slate has the Badgers slotted at the very bottom of the top 10.
And FOX Sports radio personality Colin Cowherd is in complete agreement with the committee’s decision. He thinks Wisconsin is the “new fake ID” of college football.
“The committee said last night, we don’t care if you’re undefeated,” Cowherd said on his show Wednesday. “We don’t care, Wisconsin. Schedule better games.
“Wisconsin’s out of conference (schedule) is trash until 2020 when they do a home-and-home with Notre Dame…Wisconsin is going to become the new Iowa, the fake ID of college football.”
Cowherd wasn’t at all sympathetic to the Badgers and continually complimented the committee for making the decision to keep teams with weak schedules — like Wisconsin, Miami (FL) and Washington — lower on the totem poll.
Here’s the full clip of Cowherd ripping Wisconsin for its weak schedule.
