Wisconsin is off and running against Central Michigan!
It did not take long for the Badgers to establish their offense and get Jonathan Taylor into the end zone. Wisconsin grabbed the early 7-0 lead but did not waste any time adding onto that advantage.
On the ensuing possession, Wisconsin’s defense did its part by quickly shutting down CMU’s offense. The Badgers forced a punt, and that is when things got interesting.
Central Michigan’s punter fumbled the snap and never stood a chance of getting the ball away. He was swarmed by multiple Badgers and fumbled the ball into the end zone. In the end, the Badgers tried to corral the ball in the end zone but wound up with a safety after touching the ball while out of bounds.
It was a confusing explanation for the officials, but the safety gave the Badgers a 9-0 lead:
The explanation was as confusing as the actual play. End result: Badgers safety. pic.twitter.com/euv26gW90Q
