What Paul Chryst said after Wisconsin’s loss to Northwestern

The 2018 season for Wisconsin hasn’t gone according to plan.

Through 7 games, the Badgers were 5-2. After Saturday’s game against Northwestern, Wisconsin is now down to 5-3. Coach Paul Chryst and his team are now 3-2 in Big Ten play and are behind both Northwestern and Iowa now in the Big Ten West standings.

Life isn’t fair, though. Quarterback Alex Hornibrook missed the game against Northwestern due to a concussion. That limited the Badgers offense. Add in two fumbles from one of the country’s best backs in Jonathan Taylor and you have a recipe for disaster.

Northwestern won the game 31-17. Wisconsin QB Jack Coan stepped in as the starter and did fine, completing 20-of-31 passes for 158 yards and 1 TD. But, he didn’t do enough.

The Badgers are known for their rushing attack. Nobody had more than 68 yards rushing on the day and Taylor amassed just 46 yards on 11 carries.
