What Paul Chryst said during his weekly presser as Wisconsin prepares for Rutgers
Wisconsin has turned its season around in a big way after an upset victory over Iowa this past Saturday.
The Badgers didn’t just beat the Hawkeyes, they dominated them in all facets of the game and only allowed 7 points in a 27-7 victory. They’re now up to 5-3 and back in contention in the B1G West.
Wisconsin will look to secure being bowl eligible this Saturday as it has another winnable game on the schedule in Rutgers. Yes, the Scarlet Knights are 4-4, but with the way the Badgers have been playing these last few weeks, it would be a surprise to see them lose.
Here’s what head coach Paul Chryst said going into that matchup.
Paul Chryst says Rutgers will present plenty of challenges to Wisconsin's special teams Saturday

Paul Chryst on run defense: It takes everyone to do that. That's what I think you're seeing, is everyone doing their part and then some.
They're playing with confidence.

Paul Chryst on Aron Cruickshank: He's getting better. When he was here, you saw it. He's certainly got great speed, there's a toughness to it. A guy who could make plays.
You see that continuing. He's developing as a receiver, too.

Paul Chryst had an interesting response when asked about the transfer portal.
Said it's something everyone still figuring out. Said he's had conversations with players in the past who felt like not getting early playing time helped them develop as players. Mentioned Nick Toon.

Paul Chryst on Logan Bruss' return on OL: "We knew coming into this year, for us to be as good as we could be, we needed him to play really well.
"Our expectations, his expectations are high."

Paul Chryst: The great thing about being part of a team is that it's made up of a bunch of individuals. I don't agree with 'there is no I in team.' I think the 'I' is the best part.
A team is a group made up of different individuals, but there is something greater than yourself

Paul Chryst on why he thought Wisconsin could still win a B1G West title after 1-3 start:
"I like this group. I like the make up of this group. I like who they are as individuals. We have good leadership. We've got enough talent. If you play good football, you have a chance."

Paul Chryst asked about Graham Mertz taking more shots and how those opportunities will come about this week vs. Rutgers:
"What can you expect? I don't know. If I did, I wouldn't tell you anyways." #Badgers

Chryst on #Rutgers: "It starts with a lot of respect for Greg (Schiano). You see them — it's a tough team. You can see them play hard, play well. You see talented players.
"You see it coming together. Greg has a really good staff. They're playing good, sound football."
