It took nearly four weeks, but Wisconsin has reportedly found its replacement for Dave Aranda.

Footballscoop.com reported that the Badgers are finalizing an agreement that will make Justin Wilcox the team’s new defensive coordinator. Wilcox, 39, was the defensive coordinator at USC from 2014-15 until he was fired before the Holiday Bowl against Wisconsin.

Madison would be Wilcox’s fourth stop and fourth defensive coordinator job in seven years. He previously led defenses at Boise State (2006-09), Tennessee (2010-11), Washington (2012-13) and USC.

Wilcox’s roots are on the West Coast. A former Oregon defensive back, he began his coaching career two years after his final season in Eugene.

He would take over a defense that finished first in the nation in scoring. The Badgers also finished second in yards allowed and ranked in the top seven against the pass and run.

Wilcox would have the benefit of working with returning linebackers Vince Biegel, Jack Cichy, T.J. Edwards and Chris Orr.

Aranda left the Badgers for LSU days after their Holiday Bowl victory against USC.
