Wisconsin AD Chris McIntosh spoke at Wisconsin’s press conference following the firing of Paul Chryst. Reports came out on Sunday that Chryst could be owed as much as $16 million. in buyout money after getting let go.

McIntosh wants to keep how much Chryst’s final figure is to himself for now. He stated that the team will announce that on a later date.

“We’ll share more about the specifics of where we ended up with Paul at a future date,” said McIntosh.

Despite what was reported, McIntosh said that the amount that Wisconsin will owe Chryst is going to be significantly lower due to the two sides reaching an agreement on a reduced buyout.

“What I can tell you today is that the figure we agreed to is significantly less than what has been reported or what would have been due with terms of his contract,” said McIntosh.

Regardless of the buyout, Jim Leonhard is going to be the team’s interim HC for the time being. Leonhard has been Wisconsin’s defensive coordinator since 2017 after getting promoted from his defensive backs coaching role that he started with.
