The No. 3 Badgers will advance to the quarter finals of the NIT with a key upset over the No. 2 seeded Liberty Flames on Sunday.

Wisconsin and Liberty battled back and forth for the lead for much of the game with the Badgers taking control in the final minutes to finish off the Flames 75-71.

Although the Badgers didn’t complete a single 3-pointer in the first half, Wisconsin made 64% of its shots, scoring 37 points. Chucky Hepburn and Steven Crowl were the biggest scorers of the first half, with 19 and 14 points, respectively.

Hepburn continued his efforts in the second half, amassing a total of 27 points, a career high. The Badgers also received a boost from Tyler Wahl with a 14 points in the second half alone.

Sunday marks the first time Wisconsin has ever advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT. It’s also the Badgers second consecutive win since January. Wisconsin will face the winner of the UCF-Oregon matchup on Tuesday or Wednesday.
