The Wisconsin men’s basketball program received news of its latest commitment on Wednesday. And this one has a bit more international flavor to it.

Markus Ilver, a forward out of Estonia, is set to play in Madison for the Badgers. This is the latest addition to Greg Gard’s 2021-22 squad.

Per 247Sports, Ilver is a three-star recruit who currently is attending boarding school in Ohio after spending a year in Virginia.

He has experienced playing both in the U.S. and on the international stage. He has played for Estonia’s U18 team in the FIBA European Championships. Last season, he helped the team to a fifth place finish while averaging 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in the tournament.

Ilver elected to join the Badgers over other Div. I programs such as East Carolina, George Mason and Nebraska. He is considered the 38th best small forward in his class, per 247Sports.

With Ilver’s commitment, Gard now has four players in his Class of 2021. Other recruits include Chris Hodges of Schaumburg, Illinois, Chucky Hepburn of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Matthew Mors from Yankton, South Dakota.

Though they’ve all verbally committed to Wisconsin, they cannot sign until the early signing period in April.
