Wisconsin is the B1G champion.

The Badgers clinched at least a share of the regular season crown with Tuesday night’s wild 70-67 victory over Purdue at the Kohl Center. The game provided the kind of excitement a title bout deserves, too.

Late heroics from Johnny Davis and Chucky Hepburn lifted Wisconsin to its 15th win of the B1G season, securing a conference title. Davis hit a miraculous bank shot late to put the Badgers ahead by 3 with under 30 seconds to play.

After a missed Wisconsin free throw, Purdue’s Jaden Ivey raced down the floor and connected on a game-tying 3-pointer with less than 10 seconds to play.

That’s when Hepburn hit a ridiculous shot of his own. With time expiring, Hepburn fired up a deep 3-point shot that banked off the glass to give the Badgers a 70-67 lead with under 2 seconds to play.

It proved to be the game-winning basket.

Hepburn ended the game with 17 points and Johnny Davis scored 16 in the win. It was Tyler Wahl who led the team in scoring for the game, though, getting 19 points in the win.

As you might imagine, the postgame celebration was pretty wild for the Badgers, who just secured their second regular season title in 3 seasons:

Wisconsin will be outright B1G champions with a home win over Nebraska on Sunday or if Illinois falls in either of its final two games (vs. Penn State, vs. Iowa).

Not only are the Badgers B1G champs, at 24-5, they could make a late run for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament if a few things bounce their way. There’s a lot to play for heading into March.
