Wisconsin DB named highest-graded DB in coverage returning to the B1G by Pro Football Focus
The best defensive back in coverage returning to the B1G this season wears a Wisconsin uniform.
Pro Football Focus (PFF) recently named the highest-graded defensive back in coverage returning to the B1G in 2020. That title belongs to Badgers defensive back Eric Burrell. According to PFF, he was graded at 88.9 in coverage.
That’s a pretty high honor for a league that has a strong group of defensive backs returning this fall.

Burrell was all over the field for the Badgers last season. In 14 games in 2019, Burrell totaled 55 tackles, six pass break-ups, three interceptions, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. His play was a big reason why Wisconsin was a 10-win team last fall, reclaiming its place atop the B1G West and making a Rose Bowl appearance.
This year, Burrell will be an anchor in the Wisconsin secondary yet again.
Burrell has been a fierce defender for the Badgers each of the last two seasons. Over the last two years, the defensive back has accumulated 97 stops, eight pass break-ups, four interceptions and four forced fumbles.
Wisconsin will open its 2020 season on Friday, Sept. 4 at home against Indiana.
