Wisconsin DB Xavier Lucas claims Badgers are blocking his transfer plans
Wisconsin defensive back Xavier Lucas had a strong freshman campaign for the Badgers. Now, he wants to leave the program, but it’s a move that has apparently hit some complications.
Lucas recently announced he planned to enter the transfer portal. However, he did not appear in the portal as expected and it was reported shortly after that Wisconsin was not willing to enter his name into the system.
On Friday, Lucas shared a personal update on social media to indicate he still has a desire to transfer out of Wisconsin. Lucas claims he has met all requirements to be in the portal but also accuses the Badgers of impeding his ability to leave.
“I still intend to transfer, but at the moment Wisconsin is refusing to release me into the transfer portal,” wrote Lucas. “I’ve met all NCAA requirements of the transfer portal process. I’ve yet to be put into the transfer portal by Wisconsin which is impeding my ability to speak with schools.”
Coming out of high school, Lucas was a 4-star recruit per the 247 Sports Composite out of American Heritage High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman with 18 tackles, a sack, an interception and 2 pass breakups.

Though Lucas is technically not in the portal, he has already received one transfer crystal ball prediction to land at Miami via 247 Sports. We’ll see if Luke Fickell or the Badgers have a statement on the matter.
