Wisconsin hoops coach Greg Gard calls Johnny Davis' huge night vs. Purdue 'one for the ages'
Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard had the perfect way to describe Johnny Davis’ performance against Purdue on Monday.
Davis was the biggest reason why the Badgers came away with the massive upset win. He finished with 37 points and 14 rebounds as they gave the Boilermakers their 2nd loss of the year.
Gard appeared on the Jim Rome Show on Wednesday and called Davis’ performance “one for the ages.”
“That was one for the ages, there’s no doubt,” said Gard. “I didn’t realize he had 37 and 14 until after the game when I saw the stat sheet. I knew he had played well and most importantly our team had played well…he just took over the game and when we needed him to, he made big shots.”
He also had a great answer when he was asked about Purdue saying that Wisconsin played harder.
“We have to play hard. It’s part of our DNA. It’s what makes us good. And if we don’t, we’re not near as good as what our potential is. If the opponent thought we played hard, that’s good. Me as a coach, that’s always what you want…when you do that, a lot of good things happen.”

Wisconsin is currently 11-2 overall and will surely move up in next week’s AP poll.
