Wisconsin has its quarterback for the 2024 season.

The Badgers have landed a commitment from ex-Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke out of the portal. Here’s his announcement:

Van Dyke is coming off of an up-and-down tenure as Miami’s starting quarterback. He would become the heavy favorite to start under center for the Badgers in 2024.

Van Dyke’s best season of college football came back in 2021. During that campaign, he threw for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions across 10 games after stepping in for the injured D’Eriq King.

However, Van Dyke struggled with injuries and inconsistency issues in 2022 and 2023. After a hot start to the 2023 season, Van Dyke threw 11 interceptions over a 5-game span during the middle of the year. He was briefly benched in favor of true freshman Emory Williams back in November, but later returned to the lineup after Williams suffered an injury.

Despite his struggles, Van Dyke is one of the most experienced quarterbacks available in the portal this offseason. He has 912 career pass attempts and has thrown 54 touchdown passes over the past 3 seasons. He also has a career completion rate of 63.7%.

Van Dyke has 1 season of eligibility remaining.
