Wisconsin has landed a transfer commitment from Nyzier Fourqurean, a cornerback from Division II powerhouse Grand Valley State

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back announced his commitment to the Badgers on Tuesday. A week ago, he gave a verbal pledge to Vanderbilt, but things changed quickly it seems. In Madison, Fourqurean will reunite with his former head coach at GVSU — Matt Mitchell, who stepped down in January and joined Luke Fickell’s staff as special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach.

Fourqurean spent 2 seasons with the Lakers. In 2022, he recorded 28 tackles, 14 pass breakups, 4 interceptions, 3 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery. For his efforts, he was named an AP first-team All-American at the Division II level. Grand Valley State won its conference, went 12-1, and made it to the quarterfinals of the D2 playoffs.

He’ll have 2 years to play for the Badgers, and joins a group of corners that has been in flux since the start of the year. Fourqurean will compete for playing time with Jason Maitre, Alexander Smith, Ricardo Hallman, Jonas Duclona, and Jace Arnold.

So far this offseason, UW has added 14 transfers.
