Wisconsin loses commitment from 2024 CB prospect out of Illinois
Wisconsin has lost one piece of the 2024 recruiting class with one prospect announcing his decision to reopen his recruitment.
The player is Austin Alexander, a 6-foot-1 cornerback recruit out of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Though unrated by the composite rankings, 247 Sports has Alexander as a 3-star recruit and the No. 14 player out of Illinois for the cycle.
Alexander had been committed to the Badgers since October before announcing his decision Wednesday:
“Me and my family had a long talk about my commitment to Wisconsin, and we feel as though it’s best to decommit from Wisconsin and open up my recruitment while I’m getting to know the new coaching staff and other schools,” Alexander explained. “Wisconsin is a great school and I hope to still be recruited by Wisconsin. Please respect my decision.”

Alexander currently holds offers from Wisconsin, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois and USC. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment shapes up moving forward.
With Alexander reopening his recruitment, Wisconsin is down to a single commitment in the 2024 recruiting class from 4-star QB Mabrey Mettauer out of Texas.
