Wisconsin starting linebacker Jordan Turner has been suspended indefinitely, the program announced on Friday.

Turner violated Wisconsin’s student-athlete discipline policy, according to a release from the program. He has been suspended from all competition and practice “pending completion of the required factual inquiry.”

While Wisconsin’s release didn’t provide many details, Turner issued a statement on Friday regarding his suspension.

Turner says he was cited with an OWI (operating while intoxicated) first offense earlier this week. Here’s his full statement:

“My parents raised me to do the right things in life and unfortunately this time, I didn’t. I made the wrong decision. I’m very disappointed and embarrassed and I want to personally apologize to my parents, my teammates, my coaches, the fans and the University of Wisconsin.

“I take this matter very seriously and I vow to learn from this and be a better man going forward.

Turner is a key player on Wisconsin’s defense. Last season, he recorded 64 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception and 1 pass deflection. His 64 tackles were the 2nd-most of any Badger in 2022.

Turner was named honorable mention all-Big Ten for his performance.

He’s entering his 4th season with the program.
