Wisconsin’s offensive line received a bit of good news this week.

According to Evan Flood of Badgers247, seasoned veteran offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen will be returning to Wisconsin for his senior year with the program. This comes as a nice boost for the Badgers, who have seen running back Jonathan Taylor, receiver Quintez Cephus and center Tyler Biadasz all declare for the NFL Draft.

Van Lanen has played in 40 career games with the Badgers, and will likely be one of the anchors on Wisconsin’s offensive line next season. In 2019, Van Lanen played in 13 contests, missing only the Purdue game.

Wisconsin is coming off a B1G West title in 2019, finishing the regular season with a 10-2 record. The Badgers then lost to Ohio State in the B1G Championship Game and fell to Oregon in the Rose Bowl to finish the year with a 10-4 mark.

Wisconsin always seems to own one of the top offensive lines in the B1G and typically has one of the most prominent run games in the country. With so many key departures following the 2019 season, it’ll be interesting to see what the Badgers offense looks like in 2020.

Having Van Lanen back up front should be a good starting point.
