Wisconsin starting quarterback Alex Hornibrook has missed the trip to Happy Valley for today’s road test at Penn State, meaning sophomore Jack Coan will earn his second career start, according to the Wisconsin State-Journal’s Jason Galloway:

Hornibrook was in the concussion protocol for the second time in three weeks after being sacked on the last play of the first half in last week’s 31-17 victory over Rutgers. Coan was 20-for-31 with 158 yards and a touchdown in a 31-17 loss at Northwestern two weeks ago in his first career start and 5-of-7 for 64 yards and a score in relief of Hornibrook last week.

The Badgers (6-3, 4-2) are holding onto dear life when it comes to the race for the Big Ten West, as they’re currently looking up to Northwestern (5-4, 5-1), which owns the tiebreaker. Penn State (6-3, 3-3) is 3-0 in its last three home games against Wisconsin.
