Wisconsin redshirt junior running back Bradrick Shaw is getting closer to seeing his name listed on the Badgers’ active depth chart.

Shaw tore the ACL in his left knee in the 2017 regular season finale at Minnesota and then suffered a minor setback this past August which required additional surgery. But for the first time in 2018, he’s been upgraded to questionable on the team’s injury report.

“We thought we could get him back by the time the Big Ten season started,” running backs coach John Settle said of Shaw, according to the Journal Sentinel. “He did a good job rehabbing and was making great progress. … Once we got into camp, some of the hardware started to malfunction and they had to go back in.

“That set him back a couple more weeks,” he continued. “But through it all, he has worked and he is close. He is doing full practices and starting to get into some team stuff.”

Between Jonathan Taylor, Taiwan Deal, Garrett Groshek and Chris James, Wisconsin is loaded in the backfield, so there’s no need for the coaching staff to rush Shaw back into the mix.

A former three-star prospect, Shaw has recorded 822 yards and nine touchdowns in 21 appearances as a reserve for the Badgers.
