Wisconsin senior safety D’Cota Dixon was selected to the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on Monday.

According to the AFCA website, student-athletes who are nominated for this award “demonstrate a unique dedication to community service and desire to make a positive impact on the lives around them,” while also exhibiting “tremendous perseverance as well as the ability to overcome personal struggles and come out victorious against all odds.”

Dixon is actively engaged as a leader in the community, serving as a mentor at a youth correctional center. He’s also developing a program for student-athletes to reduce the stigma of seeking mental health services and often speaks to youth groups.

“I think at the end of the day, when all of this sports stuff falls off and the dust collects on your back, the legacy you will leave is, what did you do?” Dixon said, per RedandBlack.com. “How did you make people feel? How did you love people? How did you impact people’s lives? I think those are the things that have eternal effects, verse playing the game.”

Dixon has made 32 starts for the Badgers in his career, totaling 179 tackles and five interceptions.
