Wisconsin volleyball suffers loss to Texas in national semifinals
Wisconsin volleyball is officially out of the NCAA Tournament after losing in the semifinals to Texas 3-1.
The Badgers lost the 1st set 25-22, then bounced back in the 2nd set to win 25-20. However, Wisconsin lost the final 2 sets 25-13 and 25-16. The Badgers weren’t the only No. 1 seed to lose on Thursday. Nebraska and Pitt faced off in a battle of 1 seeds with the Panthers losing in 3 sets.

Sarah Franklin and Anna Smrek led Wisconsin in kills. Smrek also led her team with 15 points and Franklin wasn’t too far behind with 14.5 points. Gulce Guctekin finished with a team high 13 digs. Texas had 11 aces and Wisconsin had 11 service errors.
With the Badgers’ loss to the Longhorns, the national championship matchup is now set. Nebraska will take on reigning national champion Texas for a chance to take the title back home to the B1G.
Wisconsin finished the 2023 season with a 30-4 record.
The 2023 Women’s Volleyball Championship will be at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday on ABC.
