Alex Hornibrook may be regretting his word choice during a recent meeting with reporters. Or, maybe he isn’t.

On Friday, the Wisconsin-turned-Florida State quarterback met with the media as he enters fall camp for the first time with the Seminoles. And he made an interesting comment in regards to his new teammates that appeared to take a shot at some Badger wide receivers.

“I’m excited to be here,” Hornibrook said, according to Ariya Massoudi of IMG Radio and ACC Network Extra. “I’ve never been around a group of wide receivers that love football so much and never want to leave the field.”

As you might imagine, that didn’t go over too well with some of Hornibrook’s old teammates in Madison. A few of them had some things to say on Twitter after reading the FSU quarterback’s comments.

Here are some of the responses from Danny Davis, Kendric Pryor and Scott Nelson:

That may add a little extra fuel to the fire for the Badgers this season, particularly the wide receiver group. Unfortunately, the only way we’d see a Wisconsin-Florida State matchup would be in a bowl game.

Who isn’t rooting for that now?

Hornibrook decided to leave Wisconsin this offseason despite having been the starter for the last three seasons. There was belief that quarterbacks Jack Coan and Graham Mertz may give him a serious run for the starting job this fall.

When Hornibrook left, it seemed to be on good terms with Wisconsin. Clearly he doesn’t mind burning a few bridges, though.
