Routing the USF Bulls, 49-0, on August 30, the Wisconsin Badgers began their season with a bang. Tasked with following up an extremely impressive performance, the team was arguably even more impressive in Week 2, dispatching Central Michigan, 61-0.

Having outscored their opponents 110-0, the Badgers are rolling headed into their bye week.

Brent Yarina, senior producer for The Big Ten Network, pointed out a start of this fashion hasn’t been seen since the 1980 South Carolina Gamecocks:

Coached by Jim Carlen, the 1980 Gamecocks slowed down after their hot start, finishing 8-4. However, the team did defeat the Michigan Wolverines in Michigan Stadium, 17-14.

Following Saturday’s off date, Wisconsin hosts Michigan on September 21. In what will likely be a top-15 showdown, the Badgers are looking to avenge 2018’s 38-13 loss in Ann Arbor.

Surviving the Army Black Knights, 24-21, in double-overtime on September 7, Michigan is also idle on Saturday.
