Wearing his own version of the turnover chain after Wisconsin’s 34-24 win over Miami in the Orange Bowl, Nick Nelson announced that he’ll be an early departure for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Nelson just completed his junior season with the Badgers and was one of the B1G’s top cornerbacks in 2017. Nelson told reporters of his decision following the Orange Bowl victory.

Nelson was terrific in coverage this season, disrupting 20 passes on the year. He also had over 30 tackles in his junior campaign.

In three seasons in Madison, Nelson racked up over 100 tackles and 40 pass break-ups. He also had 3.5 tackles for loss while playing in 37 games for the Badgers.

Nelson was a member of a Wisconsin defense that was one of the best against the pass, ranking second in the B1G and fourth nationally, allowing just 160.6 yards per game through the air. The Badgers also had 20 interceptions for the season.

Miami had just 203 yards through the air and threw three interceptions against Wisconsin on Saturday night.
