Rashod Bateman’s first training camp with the Baltimore Ravens was going well until he suffered an injury on Tuesday morning.
However, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Bateman’s injury isn’t believed to be structural. He says Bateman suffered a soft tissue injury, which seems to be good news for the former Minnesota star.

“My understanding, it is actually a soft tissue injury, so nothing structural with Rashod Bateman,” Rapoport said on NFL Network. “It doesn’t mean he’s going to come back soon, but the fact that it’s not a knee … is at least good news that we’re going to see Rashod Bateman sooner rather than later.”
Rapoport added that Bateman is still getting tests to see how severe the injury is and how much time he might miss.
Bateman is coming off an excellent three year career with the Golden Gophers. He recorded 147 catches for 2,395 yards and 19 touchdowns during his collegiate career.
The Ravens picked him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Baltimore’s first preseason game is on Saturday. The Ravens open up the 2021 campaign against the Raiders on Sept. 13.
