Justin Fields did not see action in the 1st half of Saturday’s game with the Chicago Bears, but he was able to play the entirety of the 2nd half.
Chicago started the game by giving quarterback Andy Dalton every rep before halftime. Dalton and the rest of the starting offense managed just one touchdown drive against Buffalo’s defense.
After the half, Fields took over and had some good moments. He flashed his ability to drop in the deep ball multiple times, including on this throw to tight end Jesse James:

Fields also displayed his ability to avoid the pass rush consistently while making plays with his legs. He converted one 4th down on the ground and finished as Chicago’s leading rusher with 46 yards:

The afternoon was not without its struggles. Fields finished just 9-for-19 throwing the ball, though there were multiple drops by the Bears receivers. He also sustained a nasty hit on a play where the Bills managed to get a clean pass rush through.
To this point, Fields has shown his toughness and skillset in small bursts of the playing time he has seen. Now, it would be nice if the Bears give him a shot to see first-team reps before the start of the regular season.
