Mel Tucker shares humorous exchange with Kenneth Walker III following Walker’s massive debut

Kenneth Walker III was a breakout star during Michigan State’s victory at defending B1G West champion Northwestern.
Walker III amassed 264 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 11.5 yards per carry in his first game at Michigan State after transferring from Wake Forest.
Michigan State coach Mel Tucker shared a touching moment he shared with Walker after the sensational performance.

Tucker said after the game, Kenneth Walker III thanked him for taking a chance on him. Mel laughs and says “are you kidding me? Thank you for taking a chance on us.”

For his efforts, Walker was the Maxwell Award Player of the Week.
On the first play of the game, Walker burst free for a 75-yard touchdown. Walker added another three-yard touchdown in the first quarter, as well as a five-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and a six-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Next up for Michigan State is its home opener vs. Youngstown State on Sept. 11 (12 p.m. EST/BTN).
